Award-winning children's author Steve Heron hosts a workshop for adults interested in children's literature.
Children’s books are not necessarily about ending happily ever after; they are more about rousing hope. A children's book is a compass to help children navigate their world and foster hope.
Exploring realistic fiction and fantasy for children that interpret and comment on life and the issues they encounter.
Children's books are not just to be enjoyed by children. C. S. Lewis said, “A good children’s story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children’s story in the slightest.”
3pm: Once Upon a Time: Crafting a Short Story
Award-winning author Sarah Evans shares her story-telling skills and techniques in an interactive workshop suitable for beginners and those wanting to kickstart their muse.
This short story writing workshop will focus on the key aspects and expectations of a good yarn and flag common pitfalls.
Sarah’s workshops are lively and fun with students challenged to stretch themselves and engage in on-the-spot writing exercises.
Please bring along a notebook and pen.
4pm: Design a Hero
Join romantic fantasy author Wendy Palmer for a scintillating interactive hero-forging session for all Romance and Romantasy fans.
We'll use popular online character designer HeroForge (not AI) to create our dream romantic lead from head to toe and every part* in between, exploring some of the biggest and most surprising trends in this best-selling yet perennially under-estimated genre as we go ... including why the first question must be Is our hero even a human? (BYO wine!)
